St. Patrick’s Day 2018 will live long in the memory of Irish rugby fans as Ireland claimed the 6 Nations rugby title by beating England in London. Ireland got off to a rocky start against England this year but it should all be still to play for when they face off against Wales on the final day. We’ll have all 3 games live on indoor and outdoor big screens:
▶ 13:30 Italy vs France
▶ 15:45 Wales vs Ireland
▶ 18:00 England vs Scotland
But as ever it’s certainly not just about the rugby. Thankfully, we will have much more indoor space next year so even if it is as cold as 2018 there’ll be live music and interactive installations across 3 different spaces to keep revellers entertained (and warm!). The Sunbeams, The Broken Jug Ramblers and The Brave Believing Dreamers are the first confirmed acts for the main stage. Sara Miller and Le Fox will be spinning tunes for us into the wee hours as we welcome in St. Patrick’s Day in style.
Follow us on social media as we announce many more in the build-up to the big day!
Our friends at Wilder Garten will be curating a very special space for the day, featuring collaborative jam sessions with curated musicians and a group art exhibition from local Irish artists and art that carries traditional Celtic/Irish themes. This all wouldn’t be possible without the support of Embassy of Ireland Berlin and we welcoming a representative from the embassy again for the opening ceremony, which will also feature the talented dancers from Jigs & Reels Irish Dance Academy Berlin and the truly impressive The Berlin Pipe Company. Following on from the opening ceremony at 15:00, the dancers will lead a children’s ceilidh (children’s dance) as the Wales vs Ireland match kicks off in the screening areas.
We also couldn’t have a proper St. Patrick’s Day party without some cracking trad musicians so rest assured we’ll have all bases covered. Like last year, we’ll have the best of Irish street food, activities for the kids and storytelling. We’re also grateful for the support from Guinness again this year, so expect plenty of hats to go around!
For more information, please follow us on social media and visit our site: http://stpatricksfest.de/ Due to space restrictions at Birgit&Bier, this will be a ticketed event. Tickets are on sale now for as little as €3 (+ handling fee). Children are welcome free of charge.
We look forward to welcoming you all on the day!
